China's latest national standard for nitrogen oxide emissions is mainly aimed at different types of boilers and thermal power plants. The following are specific standard requirements:
Boiler industry:
Gas boilers: The nitrogen oxide emission requirement for newly built boilers is 200mg/m³, 150mg/m³ in key areas, and 400mg/m³ for boilers in use.
Coal-fired boilers: The nitrogen oxide emission requirement for newly built boilers is 300mg/m³, 200mg/m³ in key areas, and 400mg/m³ for boilers in use.
Oil-fired boilers: The nitrogen oxide emission requirement for newly built boilers is 250mg/m³, 150mg/m³ in key areas, and 400mg/m³ for boilers in use.
From April 1, 2023, the nitrogen oxide emissions of boilers in use must be reduced to ≤80mg/m³, and the nitrogen oxide emissions of newly built boilers must be reduced to ≤30mg/m³.
Thermal power plants:
According to the "Emission Standards for Air Pollutants from Thermal Power Plants" (GB13223-1996), from January 1, 1997, new, expanded, and rebuilt thermal power plants whose environmental impact reports are pending review and approval must comply with the corresponding nitrogen oxide emission standards. From January 1, 2025, the nitrogen oxide emission concentration of thermal power plants in key areas shall not exceed 100 mg per cubic meter.
In addition, some areas such as Beijing implement more stringent standards. It is recommended to consult the latest standard documents issued by relevant environmental protection departments for more detailed information.
